Melissa’s goal is to inspire others with similar stories like hers, and young parents to take charge of their own health, in an effort to better the futures of our children. Melissa has a wealth of knowledge as a nurse, a patient, a mother and wife, and she is eager to share her life with others in any way that she can.

She was born and raised in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. She was brought up in a Roman Catholic Filipino family. Together, with her older brother and her parents, she enjoyed the sights and sounds of Vancouver as it flourished into the city it is today. Melissa completed her university studies with a baccalaureate in Nursing in November 2005. After a short start to her nursing career, she was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer in June of 2006. With two subsequent thyroid cancer diagnoses in 2008 and 2013, a marriage and the birth of her first child Marcus, she started her journey of writing a blog based around her struggles as a mom, wife, and nurse with a cancer diagnosis. Today, she has taken on another platform with sharing her story, live in person. With so much to tell, Melissa is eager to share her story with the world.
