Eating a diet rich in some vegetables and fruits as part of an overall healthy diet may protect against certain types of cancers.
Here are some yummy snacks to help you add a little vegetables and fruit to your vacation diet!
1. Bottled Smoothies
There are large varieties of bottles smoothies in grocery stores today. A smoothie is perfect way to start your day or it can be a perfect snack to help curb your appetite until your next meal. Try going for a bottles smoothie with no added sugar and low in calories high in protein and carbs. Always look at the nutrition guide on the back to make sure you’re getting the healthiest option. Try these two delicious smoothies:
2. Green Devotion Evolution Juices
With the lowest amount of sugar just eight grams in an 11-ounce bottle this is one of the best choices for bottled smoothies. You can buy this smoothie at Starbucks and your local grocery stores.
3. Green Machine Naked Juice
Naked juice has many different flavors and is very easy to find at any grocery store. They all contain a lot of fruit; this one also packs spirulina, barley grass, broccoli, spinach, blue green algae, and other veggie boosters, making it a solid option wherever you go!

Always make sure like anything on this list that you are looking at the nutrition guide on that back of the packages. A lot of dry fruit contain A LOT of sugar so be aware and look for fruit with not added sugar. Look for dried fruit that says 100% natural, no added sugar, no preservatives; you want to make sure your just eating fruit!
5. Homemade Veggie or Fruit Bento Box
One of my favorite things to make when I know I’m going on a vacation is a homemade bento box. If you just take a plastic sandwich container that has three or four separate sections within the container you can then load it with whatever healthy snack you want.
Try putting in a few of your favorite veggies such as celery, carrots, or snap peas in the container and then add your favorite dip such as hummus or low fat ranch. You can also do it with fruit and add a little low fat yogurt to dip your fruit in! This makes for a mess free tasty snack that you can put away and snack on again and again!
6. Banana and Apples
Easy to store and easy to carry around bananas and apples are a perfect on the go snack for any type of travel. Bananas contain several essential nutrients, and have benefits for digestion, heart health and weight loss. Bananas contain a fair amount of fiber, as well as several antioxidants.
Apples are extremely rich in important antioxidants, flavonoids, and dietary fiber. The phytonutrients and antioxidants in apples may help reduce the risk of developing cancer, hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease.
7. Snap Peas
Not only are snap peas delicious but they are a fun easy and healthy snack to take on the go and are a healthy alternative to chips and other unhealthy snacks. One of the most notable health benefits of sugar snaps peas are they are high in vitamin C. This water-soluble, antioxidant vitamin speeds wound healing boosts immunity and also aids in the production of collagen. You can just eat them as they are or you can also find baked snap pea snacks that are also a healthy alternative as well.
Protein is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle making it important to incorporate into your travels. Hair and nails are mostly made of protein. Your body uses protein to build and repair tissues. You also use protein to make enzymes, hormones, and other body chemicals. Protein is an important building block of bones, muscles, cartilage, skin, and blood.
Beef jerky is a perfect travel snack, easily portable for road trips and camping. And surprisingly to many, it can actually fit into a healthful diet since its rich in protein and generally low in saturated fat and calories. However, it can be filled with not-so-good add-ins like MSG, corn syrup, nitrites compounds that are linked to heart disease and cancer, and as much as 600 mg sodium in a single ounce.
Fortunately, more companies are offering all-natural jerky that’s made with no added nitrites, and many are lower in sodium, as well. And jerky options extend far beyond just beef there’s turkey, chicken, bison, ostrich and even meatless vegan jerky. Just be sure to look at the nutrition guide to insure making the healthiest decision.
9. Energy Bars
Energy and protein bars and even granola bars are a perfect traveling snack they are small and easy to pack around and they also help control you appetite. There are many brands of bars that you can choose from but just like anything be sure to check on the nutrition guide to make sure your getting the healthies option. Some of my favorites are Cliff bars and Luna bars there are so many flavors and a large variety to choose from.
10. Cheese Strings
Cheese is among the richest dietary sources of calcium, which plays an essential role in bone health and provides many nutrients for your body. Cheese strings are a perfect savory alternative and make it very easy to bring cheese along on any trip. They are easy to pack around and a very good quick satisfying snack.
Almonds are rich in vitamin E, calcium, magnesium and potassium. Additionally, almonds are a significant source of protein and fiber, while being naturally low in sugar. Almonds are a perfect traveling snack, when buying your almonds buy the unsalted or unflavored almonds for the healthiest option.
12. Cheese and Whole Grain Crackers Snack Box
What is better than cheese and crackers! You can make your own snack box by using a container with three or more sections. Add in your snack box some whole grain crackers, cheese, and even some lean protein such as turkey slices. And there you have it a perfect mess free traveling snack!
You can’t go on a vacation and not have some treats along the way! Here are some great ways to help satisfy your sweet tooth and be healthy on you vacation as well!

One of my favorite snacks is popcorn! It is light, yummy, and a great snack for traveling. Try getting organic popcorn because it is likely to be a healthier option!
14. Dark Chocolate trail mix
Easy to pack around and a great snack to munch on try mixing a small serving of a healthy mix of nuts like almonds and pistachios with a few nice chewy pieces of dried fruit like cranberries or cherries and even raisins and don’t forget some dark chocolate pieces makes a great snack mix with good nutritional value too.
15. Fruit Leather
Fruit leathers are so yummy and easy to take on any vacation. Find a low-sugar; fruit-only dried fruit leather can be a great way to satisfy a sweet tooth. Just make sure to find a brand with no added sugar.
16. Animal Crackers
A small handful of animal crackers are not just an ideal snack for kindergarteners. A good-sized handful (about 16 crackers) has just about 120 calories and only 7g of sugar.
17. No Guilt Chocolate cake
We all love a piece of cake but we know it’s not good for us! This moist, just-sweet-enough chocolate-zucchini bread has more than a few healthy ingredients sweet potato and yogurt, to name two tucked inside, but you’d never know it. Make a loaf the morning before your trip; then, once it’s cool, slice and wrap each piece in plastic or foil for on-the-go snacking perfect for any trip or vacation you’re going to take.
