If you’re a relatively healthy person, you may be surprised if you’re diagnosed with hypertension. The truth is that a high blood pressure diagnosis isn’t as uncommon as you think.
The Framingham Heart Study which followed 1,300 participants ages 55 to 65 found that the lifetime risk of developing hypertension was 90 per cent. This may be due to the fact that in this day and age more people are overweight and are living longer.
